22nd World Education Summit & Awards, Higher Education 2021

Dr. Anusha Agarwal and Prof. Yachna Malhotra from I.T.S School of Management attended two days 22nd World Education Summit & Awards, Higher Education 2021, Delhi organized by Elets Technomedia on 17th and 18th December,2021.

 

Day 1: the Inaugural Session started with the addresses by Sh. Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India , Dr. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Prof K. K. Agarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) Prof. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, (IIT Delhi) Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab & H.P Raghav Gupta, Managing Director, India & APAC Coursera. The speakers discussed about the various highlights of National Education Policy 2020 and its impact on Higher Education.

The first panel session had following Panelist: Dr. Indrajit Bhattacharya, Director, National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET), Quality Council of India (Moderator) Prof. V Ramgopal Rao , Director, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, (IIT Delhi) Prof. Prem Vrat, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad & Pro Chancellor, The North Cap University, Gurugram,  Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad, Executive President & Vice Chancellor, MIT-ADT University. The session had great discussions on Research based and Education based institutes and how institutes and faculty members can collaborate to strengthen research in higher education.

Day 2 started with the Panel Discussion session one on the theme” Using Digital Technology to Promote Higher Education Learning and Encouraging Engagement of Students”. The expert  Panelist were Prof. Atul Khosla, Founder and Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University, Solan (Moderator) Prof. Rajat Moona, Director, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhilai Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Sikkim Prof. Vishnu Priye, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Ranchi Prof. S. C. Garg, Pro Chancellor, Usha Martin University, Ranchi Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor , World University of Design, Haryana Dr. Sendil Kumar. B, Dean and Director-Health Sciences, Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation-DU. All the speakers emphasized on role of digitalization in higher education and future of blended learning.

The Panel session 2 had the keynote address by Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)  on the focal theme Upskilling and Reskilling students to make them competitive for future workforce. The other panelist were Dr. Jitendra Mishra, Director, Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad (Moderator) Dr. Jamshed Bharucha, Founding Vice Chancellor, Sai University, Chennai Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi, Vice Chancellor, PDM University, Bahadurgarh Prof. (Dr.) M. M. Goel, Vice Chancellor, Starex University, Gurugram Prof. (Dr.) Parvinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali Mr. Sunil Sood, Chief Business Officer – Executive Education, Times Professional Learning. The session delivered great insights on various methods and reforms to upskill and reskill students to enhance their employability.

Both the days had great insightful and interactive sessions and this definitely goes a long way in sustainable learning.

UNGCNI National Convention attended by PGDM Students

United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) local arm, UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) organized 16th National Convention on the theme of 'Target 2030: Assess, Act, Accelerate’ on 15th -16th December 2021. 

 PGDM students namely, Km Chetna, Anubhav Saxena, Bhuvaneshwar Sharma, Rishi Kumar, Sachin Kumar, Kunal Sharma, Vipul Mishra, Vidhu Saran, Animesh Singh and Akash Singh from I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad attended this National Convention on 16thDecember, 2021.

The theme of the convention puts emphasis that the time to act towards achieving SDGs is now. Businesses need to speed up their on-ground actions as well as to measure those actions to make a real impact on achieving the SDGs while also creating economic value for the nation.

There were three Deep Dive Sessions moderated by Joe Phelan, Director, WBCSD India; Karanraj Chaudri, Advisor, SDG & Innovative Finance, South Asia, UNDP; Anurag Pratap, Vice President & CSR Leader, Capgemini, respectively. It focussed on following points:

PGDM students attended FICCI webinar

A Webinar on the topic “Indic Internet: The Foundation of Next Phase of Digital Transformation” was organized by the FICCI on 13th December, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

on virtual platform.  It was attended by PGDM 21-23 batch participants, namely Amit Kumar, Divya Suman, Garima Verma, Aditya Barnwal, Bhavya Agarwal, Priyanshi Yadav, Divyanshi Gupta, Shivam Pandey, Akshay Ashish, Saurabh Kumar from I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad.

The inaugural session was moderated by Ms. Sarika Gulyani, Director of FICCI and welcoming remark was given by Mr. Virat Bhatia, Chairman of ICT & Mobile Manufacturing Committee, FICCI on “Digital Economic”.  Mr. Uday Shankar, president of FICCI gave insight about revolution becoming really visible in most of the countries. Aman Jain, Head Government Affair & Public Policy- India Google and Ashutosh Gupta, Country Manager- LinkedIn India gave industry remarks. Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, GoIthrew light upon accessibility of Internet facility with the capable technologies. Then, Shri Rajeev Chandra Shekhar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology spoke about India as pre-eminent in the world which uses technology for empowerment. At the end of this session Dr. Ajay Data, Co-Chair ICT & Mobile Manufacturing, FICCI and CEO gave vote of thanks.

It was followed by panel discussion on the topic “Universal acceptance the foundation of Multilingual and Inclusive Internet” where Dr. Ajay Data, Chairman, Universal Acceptance Steering Group, ICANN gave his insights as a moderator. Shri. Anil Kumar Jain, Chief Executive office, NIXI Ministry of Electronic and IT, Government Of India, gave a special address to the audience. In this session, Mr. T. Santosh, Scientist ministry of Electronic and Information Technology, Government of India spoke about commencement of e-commerce portal in Hindi and planning to launch ideas of ecommerce websites.

Next panel discussion was “The Indic Internet as a means to expedite socio-economic development in the new normal”. In this session, Ms. Simmi Chaudhary was the session initiator who is the Economic Adviser and group coordinator, Ministry of Electronics and Information technology. The panel members included Mr. Jaap Van Der Meer, Director, TAUS, Mr. Varun Khullar, Head of growth- APAC, Linkedin, Dr. Shailendra Mohan, Secretary, Lingustic Society of India, Mr. Aprameya Radhakrishna, Founder and CEO, Koo App and Vokal India.

Then, there was a second plenary session on the topic “Importance of skilling and building competency in the translation and language technology sectors”. The brief of the session was about, with twenty-two official languages and 1600+ dialects, the language technology and translation industry in India has a huge potential in terms of economic and employment expansion

The last session was “Keynote Addresses- The need of and the ways to make Indic language content more discoverable”. The brief was that, there are 22 languages in the Indian list, google is trying to modify their software in such a way that all types of accents are accepted and the system can manage to identify natural language processing. The speakers of the session were Ms. Kalki Bali, Principal Researcher, Microsoft, Mr. Shantanu Chaudhary, Director, IIT Jodhpur, Mr. Anirban Lahiri, Lead data scientist,Fractal AI, Mr. Partha Talukdar, Research Scientist, Google India.

PGDM students attended ASSOCHAM- GEM 4th International Sustainability Conclave and Expo 2021

Eleven nominated students of PGDM (2021-23) batch from I.T.S School of Management attended the event “ASSOCHAM-4th GEM International Sustainability Conclave, Expo and Awards 2021.

The ASSOCHAM sessions were held both in virtual modes from 30th November to 2nd December 2021 and in physical mode on 3rd and 4th December at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The conclave had 7 virtual and 8 physical sessions. MoHUA, MoEF&CC, NAREDCO, COA, TERRE, IIA, ISHRAE, FSAI, ISLE, IAQA, SHF, SESI and ASHRAE along with many reputed organizations contributed towards the sustainability directives of our nation. The experts discussed about climate zone of India and design strategies for hot and dry region, composite region, warm and humid region and cloudy and cold region with a focus on sustainable development.

In the physical session, Mr. Deepak Sood, Secretary General of ASSOCHAM welcomed all the participants. There was an insightful discussion on the transformation of India into$5 trillion economy by 2025.

A group of 8 panelists comprising of Mr. Pankaj R Dharkar (Chairman of ASSOCHAM GEM Green Building Certification Program), Mr. Daljeet Singh (Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation), Mr. Vivek B Sood (GM, Civil, Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation), Mr. Subha Brata Roy (Head of Urban Development TRACTABEL Engineering Pvt. Ltd), Mohd. Abu Asif (Team Leader, Bansal Pathways Habibganj Private Limited), Mr. Anuraj Bajpai (Co-chairman of ASSOCHAM Uttar Pradesh, Green Tree Global), Ms. Neetu Yadav (Head of Management Panasonic Life Solutions India Pvt. Ltd),Mr. Nikhil Sharma (Assistant Manager, ALP Aeroflex (I) pvt.ltd.) discussed about the future development plans and schemes related to metro and railway development. Event concluded with reinforcement of motto of sustainable development and use of eco-friendly products. It was a great learning session for all the participants.

Role of Non-Banking Financing Corporation 2021 - Panel Discussion 1

The summit started with Inaugural ceremony followed by Panel Discussion-1 on “Role of Non-Banking Financing Corporation 2021”. The Moderator of the Panel discussion was Monika Dhiman and the eminent speakers were Mr Supratim Bandyopadhyay,  PFRDA chairperson; Mr J Venkatramu, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, India Post Payments Bank; Mr. Nirmal Jain, Founder and Chairman, IIFL Finance; Mr Ashish Dahiya, Co- Founder & Group CEO, Policy Bazaar; Mr. Girish Rawat, Partner, Luthra and Luthra; Mr. Jaijit Bhattacharya, Founder & CEO, Zerone Microsystems Pvt Ltd; Mr. Chaitanya Adapa, Head, Udaan Capital; Mr. T R Ramachandran, Group Country Manager India & South Asia, Visa; Mr. P S Patra,CGM D&TB (Products & Ops), SBI.

Mr. Supratim Bandyopadhyay stressed on ensuring that every family has pension fund. He talked about PFRD and how Pandemic has made people to adopt for more pension funds and approximately 47 million have pension fund scheme. Mr. KK Gupta focused on “Banking Sector and NFSC as the major engine of the growth of the financial sector”. He talked about “Make in India”; “Made in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Mr. Praveen Kumar briefly talked about the window dressing, role of regulator and auditor, and compliances issues faced in the banking services. Mr. Sarbjeet talked about FINTECH &how they are applying four Ps in the FINTECH Company. He also discussed about UDAAN. Mr. Bhatnagar talked about importance of loss absorption capacity which reduced after pandemic due to the growing importance of online payment mode.

It was a great learning session for all the participants.

PGDM students attended FICCI: Tech Thought Leadership Session on Economic Impact of Encryption in India

The online session of FICCI on “Tech Thought Leadership Session on Economic Impact of Encryption in India” was held on 7 Dec, 2021

from 2:00PM to 3:15PM. It was attended by PGDM 21-23 batch participants, namely Rima Singh, Komal Keshri, Sakshi Srivastav, Divya Bharti, Priya Pathak, Rupali Bhardwaj, Manvi Agarwal, Vishal Kr. Chaurasiya, Ishvi Chaudhary and Ajit Kr. Singh.

The session started with the welcome address by Ms. Jyoti Vij, Deputy Secretary General, FICCI. After that, Mr. Rajnesh D Singh, Regional Vice President - Asia - Pacific, ISOC gave opening remarks on Digital economy and Encryption with security along with security dimensions i.e., Protection, Battling and Cybercrime. Then Ms. Neeti Biyani, Policy and Advocacy Manager, ISOC gave remarks on "Overview of the encryption debate". She explained about Inflation technology followed by RBI.  Then Dr. George Barker, Director law and Economics consulting associates addressed the participants with his presentation on " The Economic Impact of Laws that Weaken Encryption". He also reviewed impact of Australian Encryption Law(TOLA). Question & Answers were taken by Mr. William Lehr, Consulting Director, Law and Economics Consulting Associates. Questions were related to implication of Encryption, Negative impact of Cybercrime, impact of policy and importance of cost benefit studies. The session ended by the closing remarks by Ms. Noelle Francesca De Guzman, Senior Advisor, Policy and External Engagement, ISOC.

Management faculty attended a one- week FDP, an Initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India Electronics & ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati

Prof. Shilpi Vaish, Faculty of Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad attended a one-week online Faculty Development Program on "Classroom Management Skills & Online Delivery Techniques" from 4 -9 October, 2021 .

This FDP was an Initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India Electronics & ICT Academy IIT Guwahati, Assam, organized in Association with Government Model College, Kaziranga and was a 40 Hours of course for the per day timing of 10 am to 5 pm.
The online FDP witnessed participation from 50 selected Faculty members and PHD Research Scholars from across India. It aimed to impart training to a level where faculties will be benefited in terms of the teaching style, personality improvement, classroom delivery and help the faculties to create a strong mentor mentee relation required for overall development.

Continuous Monitoring and Assessment was conducted by E&ICT Academy IIT Guwahati. The weightage of the Assessment (100 Marks) as follows:

o Practical Assessment/Assignment/Activities : 40 Marks

o Classroom Attendance/Monitoring and Assignments : 30 Marks

On the basis of percentage, the certificate was awarded. All the resource persons were masters of their own field and seasoned trainers. This extremely informative FDP will help me in training participants with a variety of modules and different styles of conduct which can enhance their overall personality.

Online Faculty Development Programme on Data Analytics for Research and Publication

AICTE ATAL organized a 5-day FDP on “Data Analytics for research and Publication” from Oct 4th 2021 to Oct 8th 2021, which was hosted by IIM Vishakhapatnam.

Prof. Charul Agrawal and Prof Parul Gupta from Management Department, I.T.S Ghaziabad attended this 5-day FDP which was focussed on equipping the programme participants with the requisite knowledge for identifying the right research problem, selection of adequate data analysis techniques, application of those research techniques, and interpretation of results. The FDP witnessed overwhelming participation from more than 150 participants from all the corners of the country. All the sessions in FDP were well planned and structured so as to give a comprehensive view of the topic.

The sessions were taken by the Faculties of IIM Vishakhapatnam who were well equipped and presented the topics in an easy manner. The Resource persons shared many practical examples and gave hands on training on some statistical data packages.

The 5-day FDP was followed by a rigorous examination, on completion of which the participants were issued Certificates.
