SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROJECT COMPETITION “ANUBHAV-2023”

I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad organised the Summer Internship Project Competition “Anubhav-2023” for PG Management students on 29th November 2023

 with the objective of providing a platform to the budding managers for sharing their first hand experiences, learning and ideas gained during their almost two months association with the corporate world in the course of their summer internship. The event had 40 participants from various management institutions from NCR and outstation locations share their presentations,through hybrid mode, based on their experiences and learning during summer internship.  All the presentations were evaluated on parameters like research methodology, analysis and findings, suggestions, logical flow and control over presentation etc.

The distinguished guest for the Inaugural Session included Shri Arpit Chadha, Patron and Vice Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group;Mr Josh Everett, CEO, Zinnia (India),as the Chief Guest; and Mr. Vivek Mittal, DGM, Gail (India) Ltd.as the Guest of Honour.

Honorable Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group conveyed his blessings for the competition and motivated all present to work towards its grand success.

Director (PR) Shri Surinder Sood mentioned that the best opportunities as well as the best brains are available in India. According to him, the biggest motivation is not success, but the fear of losing what you have succeeded in.

Chief Guest Mr. Josh Everett, CEO, Zinnia (India) explained that the summer internship will define what one can be in the future. Headvised the students to be curious, ask questions, stay hungry, not hold back, be comfortable with who they were, and to collaborate with others.

Guest of Honour Mr. Vivek Mittal, DGM, Gail (India) Ltd. shared his own experiences while he was an intern. He stressed on the importance of communicating with each and every person on the team; learning and implementing during the internship; and never giving up till the results are obtained.

Dr. Timira Shukla, Director,ITS School of Management welcomed all the participants. She spoke about work-life challenges and mentioned that SIP makes students work ready.

Dr. Puneet Kumar, Convenor of Anubhav 2023presented the overview of the programme and highlighted different dimensions of SIPs. He opined that the SIP competition provided a forum for bringing all such experiences on a common platform.

The competition witnessed presentations in different tracks, each track being judged by external judges. Dr. Dinesh Sharma, HoD, Department of Management, Gautam Buddha University; Dr. Vivek Soni, Faculty (Supply Chain and IT Analytics), FMS, University of Delhi; Dr Bhawna Narwal, Department of IT, IGDTUW, New Delhi; Md. Shamshad Siddiqui, Founder, KS Overseas, New Delhi were the session judges who also gave their inputs to the participating students.

Participants registering for  the competition were from various institutions including  Faculty of Management Studies, Institute of Rural Management, Jaipur; Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru; St. Francis Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai; Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies; Ajay Kumar Garg Institute of Management; IMS Engineering College; Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, New Delhi; GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research Greater Noida;Bhagwan Parashuram Institute of Technology, GGSIPU; I.T.S. School of Management Ghaziabad and Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad. 

The winners in the various categories were as follows:

1.      Marketing – Shikher Gupta (IMS Engineering College)

2.      Human Resource – Priya Gupta (RDIAS)

3.      Finance – Md. Zaki (Institute of Technology and Science)

All the winners received certificates and cash prizes in each category. The day proved to be a worthwhile learning experience for all the gathered students.

Parivartan club activity

As a CSR initiative - Parivartan Club at I.T.S School of Management organized a Donation camp from 28th to 30th November, 2023,

for underprivileged children in the area of Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. The objective of Parivartan club is to provide primary education to the children who are not able to go to school due to lack of money or any other reasons. Also from time to time student members of the club try to provide basic needy things to the children by organizing donation camps.

Volunteers of the day – Roopal, Ritik, Prateek, Kirti, Aman, Anjali, Akash, Jiya, Shivam, Divyanjali, Harshita & Sonam started the activity with the check of the personal grooming and hygiene of the children and those who reported on time, neat and clean were awarded with candies. On 2nd December, 2023 PGDM (2023-25 Batch) students distributed the Cloths, shampoo, Hair Oil, study material; Notebook, pencil, eraser, sharpener, Books which were donated by the ITSians during 3 days donation camp from 28th to 30th November, 2023 and in exchange children sent a big thank to all ITSians. Children were informed about the importance of donation and in future they were asked to donate (if they have extra) to the needy person. The class ended with the distribution of FrootI, Chocolates & Chips packets. Prof. Ashutosh Sharma guided the student volunteers. PGDM students were visibly satisfied and happy with the visit and the experience.

Workshop on Group Behaviorfor PGDM students.

I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad organized an insightful 2 days Workshop on “Group behavior” on 21st &  28th November, 2023 for PGDM 2023-25 Batch.

The Resource Persons was Mr. Rakesh Seth, Corporate Trainer, Mentor.

Mr.Rakesh Seth told elaborated on the importance of group behavior. He explained why and how people behave in different group and in different situations. Mr. Rakesh Seth elaborated on the importance of group behavior.

In the first session, he explained the ideas of groups and teams, pointing out what makes them different. He also elaborated on how important both teams and groups are in an organization, each playing a vital role in achieving the organization's goals.

In the second session, he organized a fun activity for students. They got blocks to create something together, using their creativity and teamwork with 10 team members. The goal was to see how well the team could work together and identify any challenges that arise in accomplishing the task. It provided a hands-on way for students to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their team. The students enjoyed this practical approach to teamwork.

The session was full of learning for the students.

HR CONCLAVE 2023: Panel discussion session I & II

I.T.S. School of Management organised HR Conclave 2023 on 25th of November 2023 on the theme “Nurturing People's Excellence In The Era Of AI, Bot & Remote Work”.

On day one of the conclave to explore global perspective, one of the sessions was devoted to  panel discussion I on “Next Generation HR Technologies” and panel discussion II  Strategies to Manage Demands of the Changing Workforce by the industry speakers respectively:

Session I had Mr. Neeraj Narang, Global HCM Strategy Director & APAC Lead, Oracle, who was the moderator for the session; Mr. Debargha Deb, Genaral Manager, DS Group; Mr. Tushar Neb, Deputy GM, Dabur Ltd.; Mr. Sudhanshu Padhy, Head COE & DGM L&D, HeroMotorCorp; and Dr. Manmohan Bhutani, Board Member & CXO, Confidential.

The panel discussion was based on the topic Next Generation HR Technologies.

·         Mr Narang spoke about the role of HR in the changing scenario.

·         Mr Deb addressed the topic with regard to functions like learning and development.

·         Mr Neb explained the use of the ATS or Applicant Tracking System.

·         Mr Padhy held forth on the use of technology and its rolein driving business.

·         Dr Bhutani rounded up the discussion by providing an idea about emerging technologies in AI.

Session II was moderated by Mr Piyush Govil, Visual Story Teller and Associate Director, HCM. The other distinguished speakers were Mr Agniwesh Thakur, Director, Human Capital Consulting, Deloitte; Mr. Kaushik Basu, HRBP, Bajaj Energy; Ms. Kalli Bhardwaj, Vice President, Accenture; and Mr. Shubhro  Goswami, HRBP - Talent Management, Cvent.

The panel discussion was based on the theme Strategies to Manage Demands of the Changing Workforce.

·         Mr Govil initiated the discussion by speaking about continuous learning, change and adaptability.

·         Mr Thakur broadened the interaction by holding forth on life values, principles and guidance.

·         Mr Basu delved into making learning more effective and the ROI from training.

·         Ms. Bharadwaj went into diversity issues in an organisation.

·         Mr Goswami completed the discussion by addressing the changing business scenario, changes in work force and being ready for the future with a positive intention.

The distinguished guest for the Inaugural Session included Shri Arpit Chadha, Patron and Vice Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group; Mr. Ravi Rajiv Upadhyay, Senior Director, Ameriprice LLP, as the Chief Guest and Mr. Govind Negi, Global Head, Talent Management, 3i Pillar Global as the Guest of Honour.

Shri Arpit Chadha, Patron and Vice Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group conveyed his blessings for the Conclave and motivated all present to work towards its grand success.

Director (PR) Shri Surinder Sood referred to the challenges posed by evolving technology while emphasising on the significant role of HR.

In his keynote address, Mr. Ravi Rajiv Upadhyay spoke about the importance of soft skills; development of AI in the pre and post Covid world; evolution of jobs in the corporate world; changing scenario with regard to AI, bots and remote work.

Mr Govind Negi highlighted issues like the changing landscape of work; automation of routine tasks;rise of AI in the decision-making process;the global shift towards remote work; technological adaptation; flexibility and access to global talent.

In her welcome address Dr Timira Shukla, Director, I.T.S School of Managementspoke about the opportunities and challenges presented by the advent of AI.

Prof. Durba Roy, Associate Vice President, Corporate Resource Centre, provided an overview of the day long Conclave and stressed on the fact that while the development of AI is unavoidable, it will not be able to match the value of human skills and interaction.

The deliberations sparked the imagination of the students in terms of the breadth and depth of possibilities with the application of the latest disruptive technologies.

PGDM students participated in IIC - REGIONAL MEET 2023

On 23rd November 2023, on the behalf of Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad, Dr. Rajeev Johari along with Shivam Singh and Sanskar Jaishwal students of the PGDM program (2023-25), actively participated in the IIC REGIONAL MEET 2023, Noida, organized by Ministry of Education’ Innovation Cell and All India Council for Technical Education and felicitated by Amity University..

 

It was the yearly meet of all the IIC affiliated Incubation Centres of Delhi NCR and West UP. The event started with Inauguration Session and Demonstration of Innovations by YUKTI Innovations/Startup, KARTAVYABODH & Interactive Sessions and UDYAMI BAZAR (Entrepreneurs’ Market) and Display of IIC Posters.

The inaugural session had addressed by Mr. Dipan Sahu, Asst. Innovation Director, MIC, followed by Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, BIRAC, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman AICTE, Mr. Manoj Govil, Secretary, and Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

There were three parallel sessions during the event in which the first was based on INNOVATION- Round Table Discussion in which several panelists shared their thoughts about the startups and innovations. The second was based on a Knowledge Sharing Session by IIC Institutions while the third was based on YUKTI Innovation Challenge nominated innovators and early stage startup founders in which many panelists shared their own startup journey and motivational key points. Mr. Gautaam Jha, founder and CEO of Ventor Minds focused on By Using PR to build Brand Equity for Innovators, Mr. Shubham Prajapati and Mr. Arush Bartaria, NIC 2020 winner talked about ‘Idea to Product and Product to Startup’. Ms. Khushbu Verma, Senior Investment Specialist, Startup India discussed on “What makes a Startup Investable”.

A one-to-one mentoring cum pitching session was conducted with several jury members from corporate and industry discussing the queries of students and motivating them to create some new thoughts. They also discussed with students the problems that are faced by innovators.

The event was a platform for encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation, and the spirit of problem-solving on a global scale among India's youth.IIC elucidated the role of Indian Youth in the Indian startup ecosystem, discussing strategies to foster entrepreneurship and creating a supportive ecosystem.

Guest lecture on “Driving High Performing Organisation” for PGDM students

I.T.S School of management  organized a guest lecture on the topic “Driving High Performance Organisation” for the PGDM (2023-25) batch on 22nd  November2023.
 

The resource speaker was Ms. Shikha Verma, Founder and CEO of Vibrant Vibes Consulting and an expert in Learning & Development, Global Happiness, and Mindful Coaching.

The Session commenced with an engaging question-and-answer round. This not only heightened students' interest but also contributed to building awareness about the necessity and development of high-performance organizations."

In her presentation, she highlighted key workplace disruptions, including shifts in market demands, the influence of AI and technology, and the accelerated pace of change.

She emphasized on building high performance organisation through three-stage progression. This begins with the development of high-performing individuals, evolves into the formation of high-performing teams, and ultimately leads to the establishment of high-performing organizations. This strategic approach provides a clear roadmap for organizations seeking to navigate and excel in the face of contemporary challenges.

The speaker covered important topics, including building personal accountability, achieving high performance as an individual, and addressing the five team dysfunctions—trust, conflict, commitment—providing insights on resolution for improved collaboration among team members.

It was a successful lecture resulted in great learning experience.

I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad organized the corporate talk for the students of PGDM (2023-25) Batch on the topic ‘An Overview of the Home Appliances Market in the UAE’ by Mr. Anand R.V, Business Development Manager VJN Trading FZE,Dubai on 21st November,2023

Director Dr.Timira Shukla welcome the guest and briefed the students about the objective of the session. Dr. Anand initiated  the session by giving the overview of Home Appliance in UAE Market .The discussions also provided several ideas and suggestions for future product research. He told about how distribution process works & how it plays a very crucial role in making goodwill for the big brands. Students were excited to know about preparing a PSI report which helps in ordering stock & it is forecast by the sales team. Speaker gave information about the various sales channels and how we can sell our goods through, aggressive displays, local advertisement, store branding,offers discount & promotion.

The corporate talk session proved to be a valuable platform for how students can maintain logistics & do time clearance to avoid demurrages.  The virtual platform successfully bridged geographical gaps,allowing for the seamless exchange of ideas and insights.

Overall, the corporate talk was a valuable learning experience, connecting students with real-world industry practices and providing them with practical knowledge about the dynamics of the Home Appliances Market in the UAE.

At the end Prof. Yachna Malhotra expressed her gratitude to Mr.Anand for sharing his valuable time and insights with the students.

Speaker at inaugural ceremony in the 3rd International Conference by IEOM

Dr. Timira Shukla, Professor & Director,  I.T.S School of Management, Ghaziabad was invited by IEOM as a speaker in the inaugural ceremony in the 3rd Indian International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in New Delhi, November 2-4, 2023

The inaugural session commenced with opening remarks by Conference Chair Prof. Abid Ali Khan, Aligarh Muslim University and Conference co-chair Prof. Qutubuddin S.M, Associate Professor of Industrial and Production Engineering at PDA College of Engineering, Gulbarga & Director IEOM Operations in India. They discussed about the journey of IEOM Society and the trends in the field of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.

Dr. Ahad Ali, Conference Co-Chair; Director ofIndustrial Engineering Program; Lawrence Tech University, MI, USA and Executive Director, IEOM Society also welcomed the speakers, panelists and presenters. The other speakers included Prof. Dr. DK Banwet, FIE, Former Head DMS, IIT Delhi, Conference co-chair Dr. Seema Singh, Professor of Economics at Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India, Dr. Maffan Badar, Professor; Indiana State University USA, Dr. M Muzammil, Professor AMU , Cdr. Dr. Bhaskar Bhandarkar, Director General Institution for  IIEE, Muand Dr. Timira Shukla, Professor & Director I.T.S  School of Management, Ghaziabad. The speakers spoke on the inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary aspects of how industrial engineering has laid the foundation for Operations Management stream. The technological integration, flexibility and agility coupled with issues of sustainability were addressed by the speakers.

The key-note session followed was addressed by:

·         Dr. Christopher Harris, Associate Professor of Computer Science, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado, United States. He discussed about the role of Chat GPT in demand forecasting, quality control and supply-chain optimisation.

·         Mr. Harjinder Singh Cheema, Managing Director, Cheema BoilersLimited, Chandigarh, India. He shared interesting and engaging videos on innovation and shared his journey from being a marine engineer to an entrepreneur.

The panel speakers for the session on ‘Women in Industry and Academia’ saw presentations by Dr. Seema Singh and  Prof. Dr. LEONG WaiYie, Vice President of International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES), Deputy Vice Chair of World Federation of Engineering Organisation (Women in Engineering Committee).

This was followed by research paper presentations by research scholars and students in various concurrent sessions.

“Business Expo – An Indian Cultural Diwali Mela” Competition for PG Management students

Students of PG Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad organized “Business Expo – An Indian Cultural Diwali Mela” Competition on 19th October, 2023. The Event was inaugurated with the auspicious Lamp-Lighting before Maa Saraswati by Shri Surendra Sood, Director PR - I.T.S The Education Group, Dr. Timira Shukla, Dr. V.N. Bajpai, Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey & Dr. Anusha Agarwal.

During the event following competitions were organized;

1.      Best Indian Cultural Business Stall competition

2.      Best Indian Cultural Group Dance competition

3.      Best Indian Traditional Costume competition

A little music & embellishing lights, fragrant ambiance & creative impulses, jubilant faces, smiles all along, with Indian traditional costumes, was the perfect time to celebrate Navratra. In Business Expo competition participants compete with each-other by making stalls of various items like; food, games, books, decorative items, handicraft items etc. with an objective to explore their entrepreneurial skills.

The Best Indian Cultural Business Stalls were Judged By Dr. Shailendra Kr. Dubey & Prof. Durba Roy, Dr. Puneet Kumar, Dr. Neeraj Sanghi. Winners of this competition were members of Stall No.-9; Kishan Goyal, Khushboo Dubey, Aman Kumar Lath, Shantanu Singh & Shashank Kumar. Whereas First Runner-up were members of Stall No.-11; Rajat Pratap, Aman Goel, Vanshika Prakash, Priya & Nancy. And the Second Runner-up were members of stall No.-5; Krishna Kumar Raut, Sumit Kumar Yadav, Pankaj Kumar, Shivam Kumar & Roopal Singhal. Members of Stall No. 2; Akansha, Akash, Shivani and members of Stall No. 10; Sahil, Ankush, Supriya, Saurav, Shivangi were awarded by consolation prizes.

The Best Indian Cultural Group Dance performances were Judged By Dr. Namita Mishra & Prof. Smita Barik. Winner of this competition were Ekta, Princy, Anjali, Nupur. Whereas First Runner-up were Sanjana Pandey, Sonali Gupta, Sunyanka, Sakshi. And the Second Runner-up were Deepshikha, Sushma, Amanta, Himani, Priyanka, Shivani.

The Best Indian Traditional costume competition was judged by Prof. Yachna Malhotra & Prof. Astha. Winners of the competition were; Abhinath (Male) & Ankita Agarwal (Female). Whereas First Runner-up were; Abhinav (Male) & Prateeksha (Female). And Second Runner-up were; Alankar (Male) and Monika Negi (Female). Daksh, Ashutosh (Males) & Sakshi (Female) were awarded by consolation prizes.

All the Winners were awarded with Trophies & Certificates by Dr. Timira Shukla, Dr. V.N. Bajpai, Dr. Anusha Agarwal, Dr. Namita,  Prof. Yachna & Prof. Astha.

The Event was followed by musical Dandiya Eve, which witness very cheerful enjoyment by the students.
